Mini-pullover dell'Avvento: considerazioni e suggerimenti

Faccio riferimento al mio precedente post, in cui annunciavo un kal per i maglioncini di Arne e Carlos, per aggiungere alcune considerazioni in merito alla creazione degli stessi, dopo aver fatto il primo.

Premetto che ho voluto seguire alla lettera tutte le indicazioni, anche se il filato che ho scelto non era quello suggerito dagli autori; infatti desideravo utilizzare alcuni avanzi della HolstGarn Supersoft (messa a filo doppio), ai quali ho aggiunto qualche colore che mi mancava, come il bianco e il verde. Purtroppo devo aver fatto un po' di confusione e ho ordinato il bianco (in realtà avorio) nella versione Coast invece che Supersoft, la quale però contiene del cotone, è più morbida e anche leggermente più sottile. Considerando che la lavorazione è a colori la Coast secondo me non è l'ideale, ma non è la fine del mondo...

Quindi ho eseguito il lavoro esattamente con i ferri e la tecnica indicati. Mi sono resa conto di aver usato una marea di ferri diversi: il circolare di piccolo calibro per l'avvio chiuso, il gioco di ferri da 13cm in bambù per il corpo e le maniche, il gioco di ferri in metallo da 20cm per lo sprone (avevo bisogno di più spazio per le maglie), il gioco di ferri di piccolo calibro da 15cm in metallo per il collo!

Lavorare il corpo è stato divertente, le maniche no! La circonferenza è troppo piccola per lavorare con due colori e mantenere una tensione decente, almeno per me. Questa è secondo me la maggiore criticità, tanto che sono tentatissima di lavorare i pezzi seguenti senza la lavorazione a colori sulle maniche.

Altro piccolo problema (che in realtà non è un vero problema, a meno di essere ipercritici!) è che essendo chiuso alla base il maglioncino non può essere agevolmente rovesciato per cucire il sottomanica in modo pulito. Niente di grave, ma l'ho notato.

Insomma, non è un progetto facilissimo, anche per chi non ha problemi con magic loop e gioco di ferri.

Ed allora ho pensato di venire incontro a chi è alle prime armi, o non è a proprio agio con la lavorazione in circolare sulle piccole circonferenze: 

la variante con i ferri dritti!!!

In pratica si tratta di trasformare il pullover da raglan a spalla scesa (drop shoulder), lavorando separatamente il davanti e il dietro (bonus: il dietro anche senza gioco di colore, tanto non lo vede nessuno!!!), senza cali nella parte alta. Poi lavorare le maniche chiudendole alla 23ma riga. Quindi cucire spalle e lato collo da entrambi e lati, poi la manica a cavallo della cucitura della spalla, infine la manica ed il fianco. Ultima cosa: chiudere il fondo!

Se volete cimentarvi (nella versione originale o semplificata), ogni prima e terza domenica del mese ci si vede sulla stanza di Messenger dedicata al kal (il prossimo appuntamento è il 23 gennaio).

EN - I refer to my previous post, in which I announced a kal related to the Advent mini-sweaters by Arne and Carlos, because I'd like to add some considerations regarding their making, after having knitted the first one.

I wanted to follow all the instructions literally, even if the yarn I chose was not the one suggested by the authors: I wanted to use some leftovers of Holst Garn Supersoft (double thread), plus some colorways I was missing, such as white and green. Unfortunately I must have made some confusion and I ordered the white (actually ivory) in the Coast version instead of Supersoft, which differs because containing some cotton, and it is softer and even slightly thinner. I think the Coast is not ideal for colorwork, but it is not the end of the world, you know.

So I followed all directions exactly, with needles and technique as indicated. I realized I used a lot of different needles: the small size circular needle for the closed cast on, the short bamboo dpns for body and sleeves, the metal long dpns for the yoke, the small size metal dpns for the collarneck!

Working the body was fun, the sleeves weren't! The circumference is too small to work with two colors maintaining a decent tension, at least for me. In my opinion, this is the greatest critical issue, so much  that I am tempted to knit next pullovers without colorwork on sleeves.

Another little problem (maybe not a real problem, unless you are hypercritical!) is that, being closed at the base, the sweater cannot be easily reversed to sew the underarm in a clean way. Nothing serious, but I noticed.

In short, it is not an easy project, even for those who have no problems with magic loops and dpns.

So I thought to help those who are beginners (or who are not at ease with circular knitting on small circumferences) with a straight needles version!!!

We have to change from raglan to dropped shoulders pullover, working front and back separately (bonus: the back side without colorwork, nobody sees it !!!), with no decreasing on top. And binding off sleeves stitches on the 23rd row. Then we sew shoulder and neck (both sides), and we place and sew sleeves, and sew undersleeve and body sides. Finally we close the bottom of pullover.
